Antonina and Antony celebrated their wedding at The River Room, an intimate venue in the heart of the Hawke’s Bay. They held their ceremony on the front lawn, taking full advantage of the picturesque Te Mata Peak as their backdrop, framed by colourful wildflowers beautifully arranged by the talented Trista from Botanical Lane.

It was evident that every detail was intentionally thought out, from the refined table settings and minimal floral styling to the wedding invitation designs and the elegant single tier cake wrapped in a large blush ribbon. However, there was one detail that took centre stage, designed and expertly created by Antonina over months and months of sewing. Antonina made her own wedding gown, a masterpiece fit for any couture bridal atelier. And she didn’t stop there, creating a second look just for the dance floor!

When I first spoke with Antonina and Antony I asked them to share some details of how they envisioned their day, they replied, “We want to keep details to a minimum so as not to distract from the beauty of the site. We want our celebration to be intimate, polished yet relaxed not your typical wedding per see, so as not to fall victim to what a wedding ‘should’ be or look like”. I knew we’d be the perfect fit, I always encourage my couples to create a celebration that is wholeheartedly their own and do away with traditions that don’t resonate with them. I think they bought their vision to life in the most beautiful way.

MY PHILOSOPHY

I SEEK THE STORIES THAT WEAVE US TOGETHER, THE UNSCRIPTED MOMENTS, INFUSED WITH A HINT OF NOSTALGIA TO REMEMBER HOW IT ALL FELT.

Throughout our lives, we experience connection, learning, different cultures, good food and wine, music, sorrow, love … and it’s beautiful. It’s all these little things that when bought together create the tapestry of our lives and our memories.

If you’re planning a wedding or would love some beautiful photos of you and the people most special to you, I'd love to hear from you.

"We didn't realise we were making memories, we just knew we were having fun"
