Tell us about The Beginning!
We met at the student bar in our hometown – Palmerston North! I was home from Wellington for the weekend, and Adam had been at a sports event. He was wearing a suit so stuck out like a sore thumb. We got chatting through mutual friends and kept in touch over the next couple of months.
I had summer in Europe booked and he travelled a lot for work so ‘it wasn’t anything serious’….. until I’d done my 4 months abroad and missed him like crazy.
I travelled home to see what could be and 7.5 years later…..here we are!
Tell us about the proposal?
We got engaged in Bali just over a month ago! I had been hoping this was ‘the trip’ Adam would propose, but he is the most laidback human and I didn’t see any signs until he said he’d booked a dinner on one of our last nights.
We had a beautiful private dinner at Hanging Gardens and he proposed before dessert. There were a million candles and flower petals- it was beaut.
Share your top 3 tips for planning a wedding
1. Prioritise the elements that mean the most to you and hold the most personal significance and then the rest falls into place. We’re family orientated foodies and wanted the importance to be on the commitment we were making so it felt right to do an intimate celebration.
2. Personalise your day by incorporating meaningful details that make it unique and special. I’m a very sentimental person so have included a few elements that can be kept, cherished and passed down.
3. Stay flexible and open to compromise. Enjoy the journey of pulling together all the details – it’s fun!
