Tell us about The Beginning!

Guenther and I met 9 years ago (January 2015) back when he was 16 and I was 18. We are both professional wakeboarders to put our whole story into context. Guenther moved into my friend’s house on the same lake I lived on. I went over to my friend’s house to wakeboard with them and I met Guenther the first day he moved to Orlando to pursue his pro wakeboarding dream. We immediately clicked and exchanged numbers that same day. A month later, Guenther asked me to go on a date with him on Valentine’s Day, and I turned him down. We were friends for about a year, but we both had a crush on each other. In February 2016 we started dating and have been together for 8 years. I knew right away that Guenther was going to be someone special in my life, even back before I ever pictured us together and being married. I realized he was my forever person when I couldn’t imagine my life without him. Our relationship has been through so many tests and we still have picked each other every time.

Tell us about the proposal!

The day before we got engaged, my team manager from one of my sponsors emailed me asking if we can do a last minute photoshoot for one of the local newspapers. I didn’t think anything of it because it’s very typical of him to ask us to do something last minute. The only thing that was ‘off’ for me was that he asked us not to wear branding (which is a hat or clothing with the companies logos on it). The next day, I woke up and had a feeling it might just be happening… My photographer friend picked us up from our house and we drove to our neighborhood park. Guenther and Tyler were looking for the perfect spot to start the photoshoot, but I was like “we can start the shoot here or there, it doesn’t matter because we can get as many photos as we need.” Guenther wanted to ask the question on the dock, but a bunch of people were standing on the dock so they had to improvise and find a new spot. Once they found the spot, our friend had us goofing around and then he had us facing back-to-back. He had Guenther turn around and then when I turned around, Guenther was on one knee. It was so imperfectly perfect how it all happened and I wouldn’t change it. He had his family and my family at our house to surprise us once we got back and then we went to dinner.
