THE SLIDESHOW

Ali & Luke

PLAY

Ali and Luke’s wedding was held in a friend’s garden on the Hawaiian island of O’ahu. The styling for the ceremony was kept simple, with wooden chairs set out in rows on the grass. The aisle was lined with bunches of white and yellow flowers, designed by Annie Lee Floral, with white and blue ribbons tied to the chairs at the end of each row. The garden had a terraced section which served as a dais, and behind that was a row of palm trees and a forested hill with a rocky outcrop.

Something of a mix-and-match aesthetic was brought together with the bridesmaids’ dresses, each a soft light blue in different patterns and fabrics. The groomsmen wore black suits and black bow ties. Ali wore a gown by Made With Love, featuring a low back, thin shoulder straps and a small train, finished perfectly with a long tulle veil. Luke wore a white jacket by Ralph Lauren, in contrast to the groomsmen. The ceremony was officiated by the best man, and Ali and Luke both read out their vows from small black notebooks.

Afterwards, they all gathered for dinner under a large marquee at the bottom of the garden. The tables and decor, hired from Aloha Artisan, were decorated with flowers, candles and draped linen tablecloths, and above them hung strings of lights and white paper lanterns. In the middle of the marquee was a raised dance floor – where after dinner, Ali and Luke were joined by their guests for a dance party like no other. The dancing went late, and stopped only for the cutting of the cake, a two-tiered creation by Ted’s Bakery, decorated with yellow and white flowers.

Tell us about the beginning!

We met each other in school years ago! Our very first date was bowling, and I remember how much fun I had with Luke. I think I knew he was the one for a while, but we both had this moment when it hit us waiting in a drive through line ordering cheeseburgers and Justin Bieber was playing.

Tell us about the proposal?

Luke and I live right next to Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, CA. And over the course of our relationship we spent a lot of time there getting to know eachother (a good portion of our relationship was during Covid when you couldn’t do much else but walk in a park).

Over the last few years its become a very special place to us.

A few days before Christmas, Luke surprised me with a cute date through the park. We went and rented row boats at the park’s lake, walked around and just played. Everything that day felt special and sparkly- but I had no idea he was going to propose 🙂 It was perfect.

Describe your perfect weekend away

One of our favorite places to go is this amazing hotel in southern California called the Santa Monica proper. Its incredibly designed, and is tucked away in Santa Monica. It’s just a few blocks from the beach and surrounded by great food and shopping. We love to drive down the coast, relax by the pool, wear comfy robes and order room service.

MY PHILOSOPHY

I SEEK THE STORIES THAT WEAVE US TOGETHER, THE UNSCRIPTED MOMENTS, INFUSED WITH A HINT OF NOSTALGIA TO REMEMBER HOW IT ALL FELT

Throughout our lives, we experience connection, learning, different cultures, good food and wine, music, sorrow, love … and it’s beautiful. It’s all these little things that when bought together create the tapestry of our lives and our memories.

If you’re planning a wedding or would love some beautiful photos of you and the people most special to you, I'd love to hear from you.
