Priya and Marcus shared their vows with close friends and family in an outdoor ceremony at The Lookout Lodge. The venue, situated near the shores of Lake Wanaka, provided an idyllic kiwi setting with stunning views of the Otago mountains, the perfect backdrop for their intimate celebration.

Priya looked stunning in a bridal saree designed by Seema Gujral. The gown, adorned with sequins and metallic thread caught the light throughout the day and perfectly highlighted Priya’s natural beauty. Marcus wore a meticulously crafted suit by Drakes in an olive green that looked equally dashing and complimented the colours of the Wanaka landscape.

As a nod to the colours of a traditional Indian wedding, The Joy Farmer strung vibrant flowers across the ceremony arch where Priya and Marcus exchanged rings designed by Frances Wadsworth Jones. To represent the union of the couple’s marriage, a Mala was presented by the bride’s sister and placed around their necks, the brightly coloured red and yellow flowers bunched together on a string were the perfect addition to their vibrant and non-traditional wedding ceremony. They were a beautiful symbol of their love and commitment to one another.

For the reception, guests enjoyed a delicious buffet of locally sourced produce cooked to perfection by The Stoaker Room. The bride finished off her night with a delicate two-piece outfit by Twenty-Seven names, thanks to her sister who is one of the founders of the popular NZ fashion label. The outfit was adorned in crystals and sequins, and perfectly transitioned the celebrations from day to night marking the start of a fun and vibrant dance floor.

Tell us about The Beginning!

We met at a mutual friends birthday dinner. Marcus was stuffing the leftover food into a beanie to take home. Our first date was spent at a bar in Melbourne and we carved our names (and ‘Han Solo’) into a wooden table… We knew we were the one for each other when Marcus made Priya his favourite ice cream (vanilla with fresh mango and shaved dark chocolate).

Tell me about the proposal?

The day before we were flying up to Scotland I jokingly asked Marcus if he was going to propose I’ve never mentioned anything about a proposal before so Marcus did his best to make me think that this was the last thing on his mind. We stayed at a BNB our first night and the bed was covered in rose petals… I was like this is pretty funny/weird and proceeded to text my sister about it, while Marcus was texting my sister at the same time TO NOT SAY ANYTHING. At breakfast I had taken Marcus notebook out of his bag to write something in it (this had is proposal speech in it) he quickly took it back from me. He was going to wait to the end of the week but decided to propose that day (before anything else popped up)! So we took a drive down to Glen Etive, we stumbled across a beautiful waterfall and he proposed! It was perfect and so beautiful.

MY PHILOSOPHY

I SEEK THE STORIES THAT WEAVE US TOGETHER, THE UNSCRIPTED MOMENTS, INFUSED WITH A HINT OF NOSTALGIA TO REMEMBER HOW IT ALL FELT.

Throughout our lives, we experience connection, learning, different cultures, good food and wine, music, sorrow, love … and it’s beautiful. It’s all these little things that when bought together create the tapestry of our lives and our memories.

If you’re planning a wedding or would love some beautiful photos of you and the people most special to you, I'd love to hear from you.

"We didn't realise we were making memories, we just knew we were having fun"
